The place

About Cedars

The Cedars has been Nairobi's default Lebanese table for years: mezze platters built for sharing, kofta and shawarma off the charcoal grill, warm pita, and shisha on the terrace afterwards. Portions are famously generous — the mezze for two comfortably feeds three.

Destinilo's take

The Cedars does one thing and has done it for long enough that nobody argues: Lebanese food, in quantity, on a terrace. The mezze platter is the entry point and the correct order — hummus, baba ghanoush, kofta, dolmas, little cheese and meat pastries, salads, warm pita, all arriving at once and defeating most tables of two. The grill work is the quiet strength, particularly the kofta. Add shisha and it stretches into a very long evening, which is exactly what most people come for.
